Laksam Sadar is located on the banks of Dakatiya river, only 29 km south of Comilla Sadar. The communication system of Laksam Upazila is much better than before and the development efforts are continuing all the time. There are about 25 hat bazaars in Laksam upazila including the municipal area. A few business centers, including Laksam Bazar, have a lot of public relations and a lot of sales. Collecting daily necessities from Dhaka, Chittagong, Chaumuhani, Chandpur and selling them in different hat bazaars of Laksam. Municipalities and Upazila Parishads are collecting revenue of around crores of rupees a year from Hatbazar. Laksham currently has about 20 auto reich and flower mills, about 10 mustard oil mills, more than a hundred consumer goods factories, including several cigarette factories. Moreover, Laksham has artificial breeding of fish in a modern way and there are plenty of fish hatcheries. Above all, there are endless opportunities for trade and commerce on the banks of Dakatiya river in Laksam Daulatganj Virat Bazar.
