Rivers

The Dakatia is the only significant and only river in Laksham. The length of Dakatiya river is about 206 km. It flows through various villages of Laksam Municipality, Bakai, Mudaffarganj, Kandirpar and Gobindpur Union. This river is connected with Chauddagram canal and Noakhali canal. At one time this river was the main means of communication in Laksam upazila. Even today, goods are transported from one place to another through the Dakatiya river on a limited scale. At present farming is done in winter and summer by the water of this Dakatiya river. In addition, many delicious fish of different types are found in this river.
